WESTFIELD – Sophie A. Della Luna, 98 passed away peacefully at home on Friday September 21, 2012. Born in Easthampton, Sophie was the daughter of the late Adolf and Mary (Biedzycki) Gutkowski.She worked for a short time at United Elastic in Easthampton before meeting the love of her life Francis Della Luna whom she married and lived in Westfield since 1950. Together they enjoyed entertaining family and friends and traveling. Sophie and Francis celebrated 59 years of marriage. She was predeceased by Francis in 2000. Sophie is survived by her brothers-in-law Peter and Luigi Della Luna and their wives as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Parish in Westfield.
A calling hour will take place Thursday at The Robert E Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main St (Rt 20),Westfield at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St Mary’s Church, Bartlett Street, Westfield. Burial will follow in St Mary’s Cemetery, also in Westfield.
Donations in Sophie’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Parish and Noble Visiting Nurses and Hospice Services, 77 Mill Street in Westfield.
