SOUTHAMPTON — Police are searching for a man who allegedly brandished a hypodermic needle during an armed robbery at the Subway sandwich shop at 161 College Highway (Route 10) Tuesday afternoon.
An employee of Subway called police at 4:17 p.m. to report that the store had been robbed. A man pulled out a hypodermic needle and held it in a “threatening manner” and demanded that the employee give him all of the money in the cash register, according to a statement released by Southampton Police.
The man made off with an undisclosed amount of money, police said.
The man is described as approximately 45 to 50 years old with a light growth of facial hair and wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, black boots and dark sunglasses, according to police.
Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call Southampton police at 527-1120 or 527-1124.
