SOUTHWICK – It appears that the glory days for the Southwick-Tolland Regional field hockey team are here, at least in the early going.
Southwick remains unbeaten through the first three games of the season with a record of 2-0-1 following a 2-0 shutout of visiting Pioneer Valley Regional Monday.
Morgan Harriman and Kristen Rechenberger scored one goal apiece. Jackie Lamoureaux assisted on Harriman’s scoring play.
Southwick outshot Pioneer by a nearly 3-to-1 ratio.
“Our communication is great,” Southwick coach Jordan Baillargeon said. “The way we are moving the ball between our offense, defense, and middies is working. Our players are doing a great job passing. They’re conditioned, they’re super aggressive, and they all want to win – they’re hungry for it.”
Southwick is attempting to make the Western Massachusetts’ tournament after missing out on the postseason by one point last year.
Goalie Sarah Bodzinski made five saves for Southwick, earning a shutout in net.
