Tigers net 2-0 start

WESTFIELD – The Westfield Voc-Tech boys’ soccer team is off to another good start.
Voc-Tech beat Putnam 3-1 Monday at Jachym Field to improve to 2-0. The Tigers received goals from three different players.
Dimitriy Stepanchuk spotted Voke an early 1-0 lead with a third-minute goal on a pass from Mike Brut. Alex Makarchuk scored in the 66th minute. Tyler Hall assisted on the play. Hall then tallied a goal on a pass from Stepanchuk.
Vitaly Covileac made 11 saves in goal for Voke.
“We struggled at times, finishing and playing as a team, but the guys leaned on each other enough to get the result,” Westfield Voc-Tech coach Kyle Dulude said.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Southwick-Tolland 0, Sabis 0
WILBRAHAM – Southwick goalies Meg Zabik (3 saves) and Tori Richburg (7 saves) combined for a shutout in net.
JV RESULTS
Southwick 3, Sabis 2
McKenzie Frey scored two goals to lead Southwick, and Courtney Wheeler had one. Alyssa Cournoyer had one assist for the Rams.
Southwick goalie Kayla Bergendale had two saves.
