Southwick officer and K9 just missed by oncoming vehicle

SOUTHWICK (WWLP) – Southwick police officer Thomas Krutka and his K9 partner Jax were nearly hit by an oncoming car Friday night.
Officer Krutka was driving west on Granville Road around 11 p.m. Friday, when a vehicle heading east came around a slight curve and lost control.
Before the vehicle could strike the officer’s cruiser, it spun off the road and ended up on the front yard of 21 Granville Road. Luckily, the vehicle did not make contact with anything and nobody was injured.
The vehicle was driven by 20-year-old Wilbraham resident Finn McCool of Brookmont Drive. It was determined that he was speeding when he lost control.
The man was charged with speeding, marked lanes violation, and operating to endanger. The vehicle has since been removed.
