Southwick resident dies in rollover accident

SUFFIELD – The Suffield Police Department has announced that a 49-year-old Southwick man died from injuries received in a rollover crash in West Suffield on Thursday night.

At approximately 6:51 p.m. on Thursday evening, the Suffield Police Department received a call of a one-vehicle rollover accident. Once arriving, police discovered that a sedan type of vehicle rolled over off of the roadway on Copper Hill Road, with no other vehicles involved in the accident.

According to Suffield Police Capt. Christopher McKee, Thomas Delnegro, 49, of Southwick, has been identified as the deceased individual from the accident. Hannah Turner, 28, of Suffield, was transported from the scene to a local hospital and suffered non-life threatening injuries.

After CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) was done on the scene, Delnegro was transported to a local hospital, but then pronounced dead shortly after his arrival to the hospital.

Investigation of the accident went late into Thursday night and into early Friday morning. The Suffield Police Department is receiving assistance from the North Central Municipal Accident Reconstruction Squad to investigate.

McKee added that Copper Hill Road reopened around 1 a.m. Friday morning. Copper Hill Road had been closed between Griffin Road and Stratton Farms Road.
