SOUTHWICK – Southwick Council on Aging Director Cindy Sullivan and the staff at the Southwick Senior Center are bringing some of their programs into the homes of residents.
During the coronavirus pandemic, the center was shut down, but that doesn’t mean their services ceased. Sullivan still provides weekday meals to Southwick’s older adults and wanted to keep other programs going and now has online options starting May 13.
“We have three instructors who have made videos for Chi-Gong, Chair Yoga, and Zumba as a way to keep our senior citizens engaged and active while staying home,” Sullivan said.
The programs will be aired on Southwick cable channel 15 as well as online.
The Westfield Senior Center has also agreed to share its presentation “So let’s quit sitting” by Dr. Gary Gorman and a presentation by Attorney Palmer on “Getting Your Will, Health Care Proxy, and Durable Power of Attorney Done While Social Distancing.”
Sullivan said she appreciates the additional programming.
“Thank you to [Westfield Council on Aging Director] Tina Gorman for agreeing to let us use those two presentations,” said Sullivan. “All five of these programs will run throughout the months of May and June and we will assess our schedule for the summer months.”
The five online programs are free. Sullivan said there are additional links to the exercise programs at www.southwickma.org/COA..
