WESTFIELD – Sophomore forward Mike Desroches (Enfield, CT) scored the only goal 4:04 into the game as Springfield College edged Westfield State University, 1-0, in non-conference men’s soccer action Wednesday evening.
Springfield now owns a 4-8-1 record while Westfield drops to 4-7-1.

There were two assists – from Danny Amato and David Chessen – on the game-winning goal, including a flick pass over a Westfield defender that gave Desroches an open shot in the goalie box.
Springfield outshot Westfield, 9-6, in the defensive contest. Westfield did lead in corner kicks, 8-5. Springfield was whistled for eight offsides, Westfield two.
Owl goalie Kris Carrington (Agawam) had three saves.
