Westfield – Stevenson Moore Doake, 87, passed away early morning December 16, 2018 at Harmony House Hospice. He was born December 23, 1930 of James Doake and Anne (Lyle) Doake. Steve enlisted in the Navy June 1948 and his service was extended by the onset of the Korean War. After the war he raced motorcycles professionally under the sponsorship of Harley Davidson. He raced from Laconia to Daytona Beach and areas in between. In 1964 he became a member of the Westfield Police Department until he was retired disabled in 1991. Steve was an avid antique car collector, belonging to the Western MA Model A and Model T clubs. He was a member of the Westfield Sportsmans’ Club and was a gunsmith for years. Steve leaves his daughter, Dodie Doake, her partner, Paul White, 2 grandsons Raymond S Flagg and Alexander Mark Flagg, and a sister named Florence. He was predeceased by his wife of 54 years, Helen (Koziol) Doake, siblings Anna Fortune and William Doake, and a daughter Diane who died at the age of 8 in a traffic accident.
Steve was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed not only by his family but his many friends. The wake will be Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA from 11-2, followed by a celebration of his life at East Mountain Country Club.
