BOSTON – State Sen. John C. Velis is seeking artwork from students to adorn his State House office.

Velis, a Westfield democrat, represents 11 cities and towns and wants to fill his Boston office with reminders of why he is there.

“We walked into my office and looked around, and it’s so bare,” he said. “What better way to brighten it up than have students send me their artwork.”

Velis said he is not looking for any particular theme, although those who know him know he is a proud member of the Army Reserve and an animal lover.

For Velis, seeing the creativity of his youngest constituents will be an inspiration.

“It’s a reminder of why I do what I do,” he said.

Students should send artwork, including their name and address, to State Sen John C. Velis, Massachusetts State House Room 70, 24 Beacon St., Boston, MA 02108.
