Sunday’s Child: Izac and Ezra

Izaq – photograph by Suzanne Durand

Hi! My name is Izaquiel and and I have a fun personality!

Izaq is a sweet, caring and inquisitive boy of Hispanic descent. Those who meet him immediately notice how funny, warm and engaging he is. Izaq is eager to please, and enjoys talking to and playing games with adults. He also loves cooking, cars, Legos, Pokémon, and playing on his computer. When asked what he wants to be when he grows up, he talks about wanting to help others and one of his dreams is to become an ambulance driver. Izaq responds well to praise and positive attention, and talks often about his desire to find a family who will love him.

At school Izaq receives extra support to help him catch up to his peers. His teachers describe him as eager to learn and to do well. In class, Izaq loves to be in a teaching position with his peers and is eager to share his knowledge. He volunteers often to read out loud and to go to the board.

Ready  for adoption, Izaq is looking forward to finding a caring and permanent family that will love him unconditionally. An ideal family will provide Izaq with structure and consistency. His social worker is open to exploring a family of any constellation, including single-parent homes, as long as they have a strong support system in place. However, Izaq will do best in a family with at least one male parent, and where he can be the only or significantly youngest child in the home. A family should be open to helping Izaq make a slow transition from his current placement to a family setting.

Ezra – photograph by Anne Hurlbut

Hi! My name is Ezra and I’m a good writer!

Ezra is a twelve -year-old girl of Cape Verdean heritage. Ezra is usually laid back and quiet until you get her talking about her favorite topics: Monster High and the robotics club she belongs to at her Boys and Girls Club! Ezra enjoys reading, writing and drawing. She has a great imagination for writing her own stories and is an excellent writer. Those who know Ezra would say she loves to please others. She does well in school and has recently been on the honor roll.

Ezra is ready for adoption and will need to maintain monthly visits with her siblings whom she is unable to be placed with. Ezra expresses wanting a family with a mom therefore her social worker is honoring this wish and seeking any type of family with at least one female parent.

Who Can Adopt?

Can you provide the guidance, love and stability that a child needs?  If you’re at least 18 years old, have a stable source of income, and room in your heart, you may be a perfect match to adopt a waiting child. Adoptive parents can be single, married, or partnered; experienced or not; renters or homeowners; LGBTQ singles and couples.

The process to adopt a child from foster care requires training, interviews, and home visits to determine if adoption is right for you, and if so, to help connect you with a child or sibling group that your family will be a good match for.

To learn more about adoption from foster care, call the Massachusetts Adoption Resource Exchange (MARE) at 617-964-6273 or visit www.mareinc.org.   The sooner you call, the sooner a waiting child will have “a permanent place to call HOME.”
