The second annual Tea Party, slated for May 15 at 1 p.m., will be conducted under a large tent behind the museum at 29 South Broad St. In the event of rain, the tea party will be conducted May 21.

“All of us in the committee love tea parties and we hope our guests enjoy celebrating an elegant tradition of afternoon tea with us,” said Diana McLean, museum board president. “We encourage attendees to go all out and wear their hats, tiaras, gloves, or anything colorful to welcome spring and the month of May.”

Last year 15 people attended the event which included six families, according to Katherine Daly, executive director.

“Our events committee members are hoping to have 50 guests this year,” said Daly.

Committee members working behind the scenes with Daly and McLean include Susan Austin, Kelly Pignature and Ellie Meyer.

Traditional tea party refreshments will be served such as tea, punch, assorted sandwiches and desserts.

“Big Y is donating desserts and Susan Austin is making the finger sandwiches,” said Daly.

In addition, there will be a visit from a “popular-themed princess,” goody bags, and specially designed origami flowers made by Tally Wegiel of Ornate Origami on White Street. Victorian-style music will also be played in the background.

Round tables with eight chairs each will be set up under the tent – decorated with pastel-colored table clothes and lace overlays. The origami roses will complete the elegant look.

“Each table will have small cards with etiquette tips, punch, cookies, cupcakes and other goodies,” said Daly.

Tickets are $15 per person and available at the museum. Tickets are also available online via Eventbrite.com – “Second Annual Tea Party.”

“We are confident that the day will be filled with fun and have been working hard to offer this exciting tea party,” said Daly.
