WESTFIELD – Theodore Joseph “Teddy” Kowal, passed away on Saturday, July 25th, 2026, at the age of 85, at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Northampton, MA to the 
late John F. and Catherine (Callahan) Kowal on August 5th, 1940. Teddy was predeceased by two brothers, John and James, and three sisters, Thelma, Kathleen and Barbara.
Teddy proudly served in the Army from 1957 to 1960 and 1961 to 1962, when he was recalled by President Kennedy.
On October 2nd, 1961, he married the love of his life, Roberta Kowal, and together they adopted two children, Catherine E. Johnson (Robert) and Matthew J. Kowal. Teddy leaves his adored grandson, Mason J. Kowal, and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be at Firtion Adams Funeral Home at 76 Broad Street, Westfield, MA on Monday, August 3rd, from 4-7 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Southwick Congregational Church, 488 College Highway, Southwick, MA on Tuesday, August 4th at 11 a.m., with a reception to follow in New Hall.
A private burial service will take place at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, MA at a later date.
