Therese Cecile (Butler) Hentnick

WESTFIELD – Therese Cecile (Butler) Hentnick (1940 – 2022) of Westfield passed away peacefully on December 18, 2022, at the age of 82. She was born in Springfield, MA to the late Victor and Eva Butler. Therese married Peter A. Hentnick, Sr. of Westfield in 1960 and together, they had six children. Therese was a life-long healer. She became a registered nurse, just before marriage, and worked in the labor and delivery department at Noble and Providence hospitals for more than 20 years. Therese later decided to follow a different calling and became a licensed massage therapist. In the late 1990’s, she opened her own business, Therapeutic Massage Center, in Westfield and specialized in alternative healing methods such as therapeutic touch and reiki. As a devoted Catholic, Therese was a member of the St. Peter and St. Casimir Parish in Westfield for nearly 60 years. Other pastimes included square dancing, a love of baking, singing and traveling. As a mother of young children, Therese was an active member of the Westfield Boys Club and worked to raise money to build the program. She always enjoyed camping and all the fond memories it created with family and friends.

Therese was predeceased by her husband of fifty years, Peter A. Hentnick, Sr., her brother Victor Butler and son-in-law Jerrett Fanion.

Therese is survived by her sisters and brothers-in-law June and David Fairbanks of Chicopee, and Rosemary and Michael Lamirande of Enfield, CT, and by her 6 loving children: Peter A. Hentnick, Jr. and his wife Donna of Westfield, Paul J. Hentnick and his wife Joanne of Blandford, David M. Hentnick and his wife Rosemary of Springfield, PA, Glen E. Hentnick and his wife Katie of Holyoke, John Hentnick of New Tazewell, TN and Jennifer (Hentnick) Fanion of Southwick. Therese also leaves 14 cherished grandchildren, Nicole (Hentnick) Helfgott, Kathryn Hentnick, Jessica (Hentnick) O’Connor, Paul Hentnick, Jr. (PJ), Rachel Hentnick, David Hentnick, Jr., Michael Hentnick, Andrew Sturmer, Ava Hentnick, Bryce Hentnick, Zane Hentnick, Evan Hentnick, and Eva Fanion, along with many nieces and nephews.

Therese’s Liturgy of Christian Burial will be Tuesday, December 27, 2022, at 11:30AM in St. Peter and St. Casimir Parish, Westfield. Burial will follow in the Mass Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam at 1PM. Calling hours will precede the mass from 9-11AM in Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield.
