Hello to my friends,  in Westfield, especially in Ward 3… last Tuesday was Primary election day.  Pathetic only a little over 15% turned out to vote.  Hey you did not have to avoid being shot at, so what was your excuse.  Citizen is an action noun!  And, for all those self-declared Patriots out there, so is the word patriot.  There is a term relating to this:  the winter soldiers and the sunshine patriots.  Those who would give their all for this country, and those who only do things when it is convenient and rewards them.  Part two is the latter will then wave the flag the former goes home and back to their everyday responsibilities.

On the plus side: I have been getting some positive responses from old friends re: A Day in Memorial for John McCain.  Many had been busy with elections; but I will be doing follow ups shortly.

Next, a bit more on the downside; I attended the last City Committee meeting where I asked about: what they are doing to link up to what is happening in Springfield?  Neighboring communities are not only receiving money from MGM, but are investing in attractions, or other new stuff to attract some of those going to MGM.  While we are not in the circle of paid, others are at least doing upgrades to entice visitors.  Add in that the Bradley area is developing the idea of a major sports facility, and Palmer a recreation facility.  And, what about the transportation hub that is going to happen.  Gov. Baker is now looking into the state’s investment in transportation with that being on the list of to do’s.  This will be an all New England Hub.  With the new transports to Hartford, and on to NYC, Holyoke, Northampton, Greenfield, and Palmer up grading their old train stations…What are we doing?  Oh, and with Russel, Easthampton, Holyoke, and completing or developing their cannabis businesses… Did we miss the boat on that too?  Hey, we hired these people, and we pay for all that they do and don’t do.  Where are you folks?  Evolve or extinct….Your choice.

Next 2: interesting election results. I am glad to see Gov. Baker, and Lt. Gov. Polito won.  As well, Bill Galvin and Ritchie Neal.  But I’ll get into this subject later.

Lastly, not just Westfield, area wise; why do we not have a Labor Day Parade, or celebrations?  Working America built this country, enabled industries to flourish, and in their spare time fought our wars.  Your former Ward 3 City Councilor, Brian Hoose…[email protected]
