To the Editor

Hello to my friends in Westfield, especially in Ward 3…I am proud of the way Gov. Baker is handling the situation on the North Shore.  Columbia: sorry for the inconvenience?  You have got to be kidding me…having your home blow up, having 1,000’s flee their homes is little bit more than an inconvenience.  I am glad to see him take on this corp., that refused to answer questions except for the standard paid political announcement of working in the best interests of their customer nonsense.  Both Gov. Baker and Lt. Gov. Polito; they have done ever since in office, went there to deal with the issue.  Oh, while on the subject, I have a few (8-9) Baker/Polito signs available, and some bumper stickers, if you want them…E-mail me.

As said, being an Inde is liberating.  If you watch Music Choice, Soundscapes, they have quotes.  Befitting this is one that goes: it takes courage to stand up to your enemies, it takes even greater courage to stand up to your friends.  So too with this political choice.  I have been Independent minded all of my life, and while occasionally labeled a “troublemaker” for it, I have always worn that label well.  But, having been a Dem for some 50+ years, a 20 year State Committee member, you can imagine the flack.  But, I profoundly believe that bring OUR nation together is far more important than loyalty to a Party, especially when they are not loyal to me when I am in such need.  Oh well, that is part of how that works.  Though for many years the behaviors were far less vile by both Parties.  And, Dems are not alone with this.  Look at Mr. Lively’s response, having lost, downright hateful.  I guess he is one of those clergy that does not believe in: Forgiveness, Compassion, being Humble, a Peacemaker, etc.  I guess he is more of the Constantine Contra-Christ versions???

Moving on…While I see nor hear anything from our City Council re: MGM, those that have are going to lead the region.  Imagine their help with the Dr. Seuss Museum, and maybe more Seuss stuff; Indian Motorcycle; the Basketball, and Volleyball Halls of Fame; Northampton and Amherst with all their events.  They are willing to help charities, and colleges.  Local Springfield and area festivals, even The Big E will benefit.  And, with Springfield finalizing their cannabis sales plans…think of the money flowing in to their pockets?  Russell is setting up their cannabis operations, and now Southwick, into growing plans.  It looks like most of Western Mass. is on the rise.  Congrats to Mayor Sarno and their City Council for a lot of work well done.

OK, I’ll leave the big topics till next time.  Enjoy the good weather (finally), and stay safe… Your former Ward 3 City Councilor, Brian Hoose…[email protected]
