To my friends throughout Westfield, and especially in Ward 3. Citizen Responsibility Day is about here. To review where I am going: Charlie Baker, Karyn Polito for Governor Lt. Governor. I find their demeanor personable, and while I do not agree with all their: what do and how to do’s; over all II can work with it. They stood up the Fed re: immigration, LGBT Rights, modernization of our energy sources; their response to the disaster in the Merrimack Valley was wonderful to see: help the people, and took on the Mega Corp.
Other Constitutional offices: Sec. of State Bill Galvin who is tough in protecting our RIGHT and RESPONSIBILITY to vote, and other Fed based issues. Suzanne Bump, Auditor, despite what her competition said, I have frequently read, or heard in the news, re: her exposing corruption, and misuse of tax dollars in a variety of areas; a lot in health and public services. Treasurer Deb Goldberg, in dealing with her staff re: retirement benefit issues, and accessing information they were very cordial, polite, and courteous as well as helpful, getting me the info I needed very quickly. Who your staff are, and how they act, says a lot about their boss. Lastly, Maura Healy while I still have a problem about the lack of help that I got; she has stood up to Feds on a regular bases on a number of issues; protecting the people of Massachusetts.
OK, Fed offices: No doubt no question Richard Neal for our Congressman. Having known him for a very long time (sorry Richie) he is a good man, and has done a lot for the people of District 1 (US). On the more pragmatic side if the House turns over, he will be Chairman of Ways and Means and is in line for Speaker of the House. Like him, hate him don’t lose him, way too important to us and to Massachusetts. Sen. Warren, I will probably vote for her. While I disagree with the counter attack Dem. Strategy that is not how solve problems, it alienates those we need to convert to Pro-American thinking. BUT, we need that vote in the Senate, and would NOT like to see the Senate stay on their course by adding to their numbers.
Ballot issues: Question One: NO!! Why, because my spidey senses go on alert when I see how many millions of dollars have gone into that campaign. If they pooled their contributions could resolve their issue. But, my education says this should be resolved in arbitration even if it requires a mediator. No two hospitals are the same. We would not need the same ratios at Bay State Springfield, Westfield, and Greenfield. Lastly, they feed the conspiracy myth with deceptive language with “The Government Imposed Standards” BS. I know they are relying upon the public (us) to not know about our American Principles and Practices of governance. Too many Americans have no idea about the nature of our government. To be as brief as I can: We hire them in an election; pay for them; what they do and do not do. And, most of all right, wrong, or indifferent we are responsible for it all. We hire so we are responsible! But, legislation mostly starts from a constituent (us) issues, petitions, or from special interest groups. Thus, what they legislate starts with: an us, or a them.
Question 2 and 3: YES and YES. 2, wants oversight over the money that funds campaigns. Who is paying for them gives you a better idea of who benefits from that person or question. Lastly, Question 3: As the yes ad says there has been no rise in problems relating to restroom use, gyms, etc. It does feed the insidious thinking of those looking for someone to fear and hate.
OK, folks live up to your responsibilities as a citizen…learn the FACTS, think, and then vote. It is you job… Your former Ward 3 City Councilor, Brian Hoose…[email protected]
