To the Editor

I am looking to contact anyone who has worked for DMR, now DDS, and has had negative experiences or know of them, adversely impacting the people we support or staff, or the quality of services.  I recently had an hour long conversation with a representative of the Office of the Inspector General. Bureau of Program Integrity, and they are pursuing my filing.  I was a MRW 2 (DSW 2) and was harassed, bullied, even threatened with nothing being done.  As such I was forced to retire pre-maturely causing me serious losses.  And, in the process of undermining me, to force me out, to get my job, and the person got it; I believe it had adverse effects on the people I serviced, even to the extent of the demise of one.

If you witnessed this in your work, and I know many of the houses in Hampden, Hampshire, and Franklin Counties.  Whether staff on staff, with supervisors, or nursing, or even with admin. And admin. professionals, or semi-professionals.  I blame it in part on their institutional pre-conditioned thinking, covering for friends and relatives, or disapproval of new people with new ideas that fit better in the newer reality of group homes, independent living, and Human Rights.  I forever heard of these behaviors at Union meetings, trainings or in meetings of MRW 2’s, Human Rights meetings, etc.  I am asking you to contact me to add your experiences to my reporting to someone finally willing to do something.

I want to thank NBC, Chan. 22 I-Team who investigated and exposed these things in the private vendor sector.  They reported their findings to the Fed. Inspector General.  I misunderstood, thinking it was State, but the result was a response to get the facts and investigate. Your help is not only important but, vital to protecting people with disabilities, and the good staff that work with and for them.  You were not in Human Services for the luxury job and income, you did not even get paid to work without a lunch or any other kind of break.  You, as I, did it because you cared.  So, care one more time and contact me, or the Bureau of Program Integrity, Office of the Inspector General, One Ashburton Pl., Rm. 1311, Boston, Ma. 02108.  Or, E-mail to [email protected].

Thank you for your help, Brian Hoose
