To the Editor: Flag Day

Sunday is Flag Day. Flag Day is a day especially set aside to honor our flag and the nation it represents. For many years, I have organized a pro-America, non-political, non-partisan, grassroots, patriotic standout on Flag Day in Westfield.
I am writing to once again extend the invitation for your readers to grab their American flags and join me on Sunday, June 14, 2015, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the park on the South side between the two Great River Bridges in Westfield.
This event is open to everyone: individuals or groups, children or adults. I’d love to see scouts and veterans, candidates and politicians, citizens and lovers of freedom and democracy, Americans of all shapes and sizes come to celebrate Flag Day and show their pride in their flag and their country. Even if you don’t live in Westfield, all are welcome!
If anyone has an old or tattered American flag they would like to retire in a respectful way, they can bring them to me that afternoon. I will be collecting flags that are no longer serviceable and will be passing them on to a local veterans group for an appropriate retirement ceremony.
The standout will take place rain or shine. I look forward to seeing you there.
God Bless America!
Thank you,
