To The Editor: Westfield Soup Kitchen needs a helping hand this holiday season

The Westfield Soup Kitchen on Meadow St. operates six days a week year around to furnish hot meals to those in need. On an average year we will serve approximately 18,000 meals. We run a volunteer organization consisting of some thirty-five different groups who plan, prepare and serve meals daily, except for Saturday. The board consist of fifteen volunteers of all ages and backgrounds.
Our organization helps to defer the costs for groups that may need help financially when putting on a meal. We also have a number of recurring expenses that are normal costs as part of our efforts. Expenses such as rent, insurance, utilities, trash, paper costs and food increase every year.
In the Spirit of the Season, and your usual much appreciated generosity, we ask you to help us continue our mission of helping to feed those of us that are less fortunate. Any donation you can make would is gratefully appreciated and hope it would be returned to you tenfold in the coming year.
We would like also to recognize those businesses and individuals who donated monies so we could buy turkeys for our Special Thanksgiving Meal we put on every year:
Ted Cassell – Park Square Realty, Cordes Orthodontics, Girard Heating, Greg Cavallon Construction, Carole Kline, Carolyn Coughlen – Park Square Realty and Whip City Carpet Cleaning.
Thanks You!
