To the Editor: what went wrong?

Many are asking what went wrong?  I don’t even think that Trump’s people thought he would win.  One was the failure of our political parties to talk with Americans, but just at us.  Thus, they did not understand the anger and frustration that so many had, along with the sense of betrayal. Or, they just did not want to believe it, after all the several party bases were dependent upon them to think and do for them.  Again their failures are revealed.

On Election Day, I was approached by a number of people, who have followed my editorials, to ask: OK Brian what is your Independent Centrists all about?  I told them that I would soon explain; so here it is.  The Independent Centrist Voters Network is an idea to create an association that is NOT a political party, but a 501-C-3 non-profit.  As such it cannot endorse or work for candidates, or legislation.  But, to advocate for changes in public policy that reflects our real everyday American concerns, issues, interests, and needs.  To advocate for Civil Responsibilities, and Authority; as a basis for our Civil Rights.  I believe America is sick and tired of political parties that have betrayed them, and we do not need one more.  And, if it evolves into something more, so be it.  But, until then to be a network of people willing to give up a few hours a month to sign a petition, or better yet circulate one; to talk with friends and family about the issues you want on our agenda, and those that I will post as well, and then contact our various local, state, and federal representatives.  You would be amazed about how much more attention is given when 1,000 people stand together for something.  I have a charter with our state, and am putting on the final touches with the IRS to complete their requirements.  I want my t’s crossed for as obvious some fight back dirty.

As Independent voters we are a diverse lot with a diversity of concerns.  But, I figure if we can agree to support those issues that we share, while we defer from those we do not; we can get a few things done from the bottom up.  And, with this a basis to bring together more people willing to contribute a little time to repair America.  The Parties seem to have been on a MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction) path for too long.  If they can get their acts together, and remember who they were hired to represent, and to manage OUR public interests and resources for US that created them, and not just themselves and the few who fund their self-interests; then we may want to return to them.  But, until they can get their acts together we need to exercise our citizen authority in a positive, productive and constructive way, that is reasonable, responsible, and rational and with mutual civility.  For if not, to borrow from Benjamin Franklin; beyond our shores are those waiting for us to fail.

Soon, with someone’s help, my Facebook will be set up to better enable me to present you with the operating principles to define Independent Centrist, American Exceptionalism, and the personal principles that motivate me to do this.    Keep in touch… your help and support will be vital.  Your former Ward 3 City Councilor Brian Hoose…  [email protected]
