We will see the following activity this week:
Main Street:
Lynch Construction has completed this project and is awaiting punch list items that the city or state might have.
Elm Street & Franklin Street:
Goncalves & Sons, Inc from Ludlow will continue working on installing a new major underground water line and sidewalk installation along Elm Street and Franklin Street this week.
They are reporting that they will be working Monday thru Friday and they will focus on the installation of curbing, sidewalks and waterline connections along both Elm Street and Franklin Street.
In the immediate work areas there will be no on street parking on Elm Street or Franklin Street.
They have reported that the delays in the area of work will be minor. The work is scheduled to begin at 7:00 a.m. and go until around 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
This project is set to replace a major underground water line on Elm Street, upgrading the traffic control signals, perform sidewalk improvements and repaving the street, all from Church Street to the Great River Bridge.
Park Square Area:
Lynch Construction is putting the finishing touches on the Park and it is looking like a nice centerpiece for the city and downtown.
West Springfield Water Line Project – Shaker Road/Pontoosic Road Area:
The City of West Springfield will begin a water line upgrade that begins in Westfield on Shaker Road and Canal Street.
Revoli Construction will be working on:
Monday thru Friday along Shaker Road in the area of Canal Drive and Laro Road. You should be prepared for minor delays as travel will be reduced to (1) lane of alternating traffic in the immediate work zone.
Please also plan for minor delays on Route 20 when you are traveling to and from Westfield and West Springfield over the next several months while the state completes raising the bridge.
Westfield G&E Work Zones in various sections of the City:
Starting Monday WG&E will be paving on Chapel Street and Monroe Street – if you are traveling in this area you should expect delays in the flow of traffic and possible limited detours.
On Papermill Road – Monday thru Friday the work will continue on the replacement gas mains from the intersection on East Mountain Road to Elizabeth Avenue. Please expect minor delays in this area as well.
On Rosedell Drive – later this week, the G&E will be installing a replacement gas service going about 200 feet in from East Mt. Road on Rosedell Drive.
On Brookline Avenue and Loomis Avenue they will be completing the seven gas service runs from the street to the houses. Once that is complete they will be paving that area and providing the loam and seed on the project.
On Elm Street and Franklin Avenue the G&E will continue this week working on the street lighting resets and replacements.
Southampton Road:
Sage Construction will be working on Southampton Road just north of Falcon Drive installing an underground water main service. Please plan on minor impacts to the traffic flow in the work area.
Other info:
Please remain alert and follow the directions of the Westfield police officers who will be working throughout the work sites.
Please remember to use your directional signals so we all know your intentions and be alert for the police personnel who will be guiding you through the construction zones.
