WESTFIELD – Westfield United Boys U13 Div. 1 team finished a very successful season by reaching the playoff championship game three weeks ago.
Despite finishing as runner up, coaches Winiarski and Stanton are very proud of their team. They credit their team’s success to hard work, teamwork and players staying focused throughout the season.
The team won its last 6 games to finish the season in 3rd place with a record of 8-3-3 qualifying them for the playoffs.
Coach Winiarski said “our goal each year is to make the playoffs which we have done each of the last three fall seasons but this was the first time we reached the championship game so this was a great achievement for the boys.”
The team earned its spot in the final by beating a very good Ludlow team 1-0 in the semi-final playoff game that went into in extra time.
Westfield played another close game in the final, however, it lost 2-0 to a Southwick team, a division winner and post season champion.
