Wanda Skudzienski

WESTFIELD: Wanda (Kotowicz) Buynicki Skudzienski, 91, (1923-2015) passed away on Easter Sunday, April 5, 2015 with her loving family by her side. Wanda was born April 7, 1923 in Westfield, a daughter to the late Peter Kotowicz and Antonina (Tokarska) Kotowicz. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Skudzienski of Southampton in October 2000; and her first husband, Peter Buynicki of Southwick in November 1968. Wanda received her elementary education in Southwick and returned to school in her middle years. She became a licensed practical nurse and worked at Wesson Memorial hospital. She enjoyed many hobbies and excelled in cake decorating, sewing, and creating her own beloved teddy bears. She spent many happy years in Florida with her husband Henry, and returned to Westfield after his death. Wanda was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church; and enjoyed her volunteer work at Noble Hospital. She loved spending time with her family and friends, attending church and social functions, and meeting and making new friends. The family would like to express their gratitude to the Genesis Health Care Center in Westfield for the friendship and care given to Wanda over the past several years of her life.Wanda leaves six daughters, Patricia Lotherington of Sebring FL, Andrea Daigneault and her husband James, of Sebring FL, Christine Frappier of Westfield, Constance Buynicki of Milford MA, Mary Nadeau and her husband David, of East Longmeadow, Wendy Buynicki of Worcester MA; a son, Robert Skudzienski and his wife Theresa, of Wolcott CT; a stepdaughter, Carol Skudzienski of CA ; and a sister, Evelyn Banas of Longmeadow. She also leaves 20 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; in addition to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, Wanda was predeceased by her brothers, Fredrick Kotowicz and Mitchell Kotowicz; her sister, Genevieve Ford; her son-in-law, Thomas Lotherington; and her granddaughter, Alyssa Stephens.Funeral services will be held beginning at 8:45AM on Thursday, April 9, 2015 from the Southwick Forastiere Family Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick . This will be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial, offered at 10:00AM in Holy Trinity Church, 335 Elm St., Westfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, 203 Southampton Road, Westfield.
