WESTFIELD- With the holidays rapidly approaching and gift shopping season underway, you can avoid the Black Friday crowds by heading to one of Westfield’s small shops that are big on options, including Flowers by Webster.
Flowers and home décor are always a great gift-giving option, and Flowers by Webster can fill both of those needs. Owner Gail Kelly said she will be having specials on Friday and Saturday in conjunction with Small Business Saturday. Kelly said that the flower shop will be one of many local businesses in the city taking part of the Greater Westfield Chamber of Commerce’s business board game.
“We didn’t get much extra traffic last year,” said Kelly regarding Small Business Saturday, “We hope that with the game board there will be more incentive for people to shop around.”
As part of the event, Kelly plans offer customers a special gift with each purchase. The flower shop will also serve as a drop-off point for the game boards, and Kelly said she will give an additional gift to those who drop it off at her store.
Flowers by Webster has been a presence in Westfield since 1963. The physical location of the store has been moved several times over the years, and it found its current home at 52 Court St. in 2005, four years after Kelly purchased it.
Kelly said that she wants people to know that Flowers by Webster is more than just a flower shop, offering home decor, candles, figurines and items of clothing.
In addition to being a shop, Flowers by Webster occasionally hosts various workshops to get the most out of one’s decorations. On Dec. 11 they will have a workshop on making tablescapes. On Dec. 23, they will have another workshop on Christmas themed centerpieces.
