Westfield Cultural Council receives more than 40 requests for arts grants

WESTFIELD – The Westfield Cultural Council met last week to select arts and music projects for this year’s grant cycle. Chair Morgan Drewniany said the council has $23,600 in funding to give out, and received 41 requests totaling $54,610.
Requests ranged from programs at the Westfield Senior Center, First Congregational Church and Stanley Park, to Pumpkin Fest, ArtWalk, Articulture, Downtown Live Concert Series and various art events around Westfield’s 350th Anniversary celebration. Amounts requested ranged from $225 for a drawing class, to $4,230 for music at the Westfield Farmer’s Market.
Funding priorities are given to community-wide programs in Westfield, and to collaborative projects between cultural groups and community organizations. All events must take place in Westfield.
Drewniany said 2019 grant awards will be announced at the end of the year after letters are sent out.
The Westfield Cultural Council is also looking to recruit new members, as several members recently reached their six-year limit of service. Anyone interested in serving on the Westfield Cultural Council, may email [email protected] or call 413.454.1195 for more information.
