WESTFIELD – A city man was held Wednesday pending a dangerousness hearing after he was arraigned on charges which include attempted murder.
Officer Harry Sienkiewicz reports in a court document that on Dec. 11 Donald K. MacLeod, 28, of 5 King Ave., Westfield, attacked a 67-year-old victim who is related to him by blood with a straight razor and a hammer.
Seinkiewicz alleges that the victim “sustained slash wounds from the straight edge razor near the left side of the throat, the left side of his neck near the ear, and the webbing of his left hand causing all of the wounds that could be seen to bleed profusely.”
Sienkiwwicz also wrote that the victim “sustained blows to the top and back of the head with a hammer which caused serious injuries and also profuse bleeding.”
The victim was transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment in the trauma unit there, Sienkiewicz reports.
At his arraignment Wednesday in Westfield District Court on charges of attempted murder, assault and battery on a family or household member and two charges of assault and battery on a person 60 years-of-age or older the Commonwealth filed a motion to hold McLeod without right too bail pending a dangerous hearing and Judge William A. Rota allowed the motion. The hearing is scheduled fro Dec. 18.
