Westfield man to run across Vietnam

WESTFIELD – Craig Reed, a 48-year-old man from Westfield, has announced his plans to complete Enduring Voices, a 104 mile run across Vietnam this summer to raise awareness for Orphan Voice and its work in central Vietnam, and to raise $50,000 for certain Orphan Voice programs. To help him achieve this goal, Craig has established several social media channels and a fundraising website.
Orphan Voice, a US-based, non-profit charity, has been working in central Vietnam for the past seven years. Its founders have worked in the field of orphan relief for the past 22 years and have 5 adopted children. Originally, Orphan Voice’s mission was to run and support orphanages and perform other orphan relief work. Over time, their work has expanded to help special needs children, deaf children, children at risk for child sex trafficking and families who experience food insecurity.
Reed, who has traveled to Vietnam to work with Orphan Voice on two previous occasions, has committed to completing this run August 26-27. To prepare for the run, he will be running an average of 60-70 miles per week, and trying to simulate the extreme temperatures he will face in Vietnam.
The Enduring Voices Facebook page, found at www.facebook.com/promiserun, has regular releases about Craig’s training, nutrition, motivation, and news about the ongoing work of Orphan Voice. In addition, supporters can follow his progress on Twitter (@enduringvoicesrun) and Instagram (@enduringvoices). Contributions to the fundraising goal can be made through Enduring Voices’ fundraising page at www.razoo.com/story/Enduring-Voices-1, which can also be accessed from the Facebook page (not available from the mobile application).
