Westfield State Owls defeat Johnson and Wales University

WESTFIELD – Westfield State sophomores Baily Loughlin (Maynard, Mass.) and Kyla Murphy (Hampshire Regional/Westhampton, Mass.) tied for medalist honors as the Owls defeated Johnson and Wales University, 379-399 in a dual meet at Shaker Farms Country Club on Saturday afternoon.

Loughlin and Murphy both carded scores of 85.  Murphy carded seven pars, while Laughlin tabbed six pars and finished with a flourish, birdieing both the 17th and 18th holes.

Megan LeBlanc topped the ledger for the Wildcats, carding an 88 to finish in third place.

Tia Pariseau (St. Peter Marian/Holden, Mass.) (103), Miread Kelly (South Windsor, Conn.) (106) and Siobhan Carey (Acton, Mass.) rounded out the Owls’ lineup.

Both teams will be back in action tomorrow, as Westfield hosts Johnson and Wales and Rhode Island College in a tri-match at Tekoa Country Club in Westfield.
