WESTFIELD (AP) – Memo to Westfield State University students: Buzz off.
Students led by members of the class of 2016 got their heads shaved this weekend to raise money for cancer research.
Organizers say Sunday’s Kid’s Cancer Buzz-Off has become something of a tradition at Westfield State. Last year, 20 members of the campus community — a combination of students, faculty and staff — raised $7,300 to help fight pediatric cancers.
The money is used to help young cancer patients, their families and research to find cures.
Gov. Charlie Baker did the same thing earlier this week, getting his graying blond locks cut ultra-short to help raise money for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute.
