Despite being shorthanded, the Westfield Jr. Bombers crushed FCHA (Franklin County Hockey Association) on their home ice in Greenfield. In goal this chilly morning was Jack Cashman, with 19 saves. Defense was the word today as Bryce Alaconis, J.J. Fox, Garrette Ondrick and Nolan Lafayette were like a pack of wolves, defending the goal and keeping the puck out of Westfield’s territory. In the 1st period, right out of the box, J.J. Fox scored the first two goals in record time, unassisted. Sean Rodgers, also unassisted, would be the one to score the third goal in the 1st period with just 48 seconds to go! In the second period the Jr. Bombers did allow 1 goal by FCHA, Westfield kept up the pressure and was gearing up for the 3rd period. In the 3rd, Jr. Bombers started taking names and shooting pucks! The second game of the tournament was by far the most exciting game the Jr. Bombers have played thus far! Westfield pulled out all the stops during the 1st period as defense was the word. Kailyb Santiago and his pack of defensive linemen protected their goalie at every angle. At the 9:07 mark the Sting was awarded a penalty shot, goalie Cashman easily diverted the shot and the Stings were deflated. It was in the 2nd period Westfield took the puck away from the Stings and fired it into their net! Reid Imbriglio would be the one to score the first goal, unassisted. J.J. Fox would then follow, unassisted, with the 2nd and final goal of the game at the 4:22 mark. At the end of the 2nd period the score was 2 and 0. In the 3rd period, the Jr. Bombers allowed 1 goal by the Sting. In the last 3 minutes of the game, the Sting pulled their goalie in an attempt to tie up the game, but the Jr. Bombers kept up the pressure until the very end. Great job everyone!
