The Westfield Jr. Bombers went stick to stick this morning with Ludlow’s Wildcats. The last time these two rival teams went to battle was January 25th 2015; they were crushed by the Bombers 4 to 1. Today was a new day and both teams were vying for a place in the GSL play-offs. Jack Cashman played net today with 13 saves. Despite 5 penalties on the Bombers, Westfield spent the majority of the game in the Wildcat’s territory. A total of 12 attempts on goal were made by Michael Miller, Spencer Roy, Mason Garrity, J.J. Fox and Reid Imbriglio. Westfield continued to keep up the pressure, not allowing a single goal! The game pucks went to J.J. Fox and Michael Miller for an outstanding job. Jack Cashman also should be congratulated on his very first shut-out game of the season. Everyone brought 110% to the ice today, great game everyone!

Today the Westfield Jr. Bombers went to battle with Holy Name of Westside. The last time the two teams faced each other was February 8th, 2015, Westfield schooled Holy Name in the art of winning as they beat them 7 to 5. Today was a bit different as Holy Name did not forget the defeat and came out of the box swinging. Jack Cashman played between the pipes this morning, saving 32 shots of the 40 fired at him. In the first period J.J. Fox, unassisted, scored the first goal of the game at the 9:10 mark. John Lacey, Sean Rodgers, Kailyb Santiago and Nolan Lafayette removed the puck from the Bombers zone with ease, defending their goalie. In the 2nd period, J.J. Fox scored, unassisted, the last and final goal at the 3:55 mark. A total of 22 attempts were made on Holy Name’s goal by Reid Imbriglio, J.J. Fox, Nolan Lafayette and John Lacey, awesome job! The game and coaches’ pucks were awarded to Spencer Roy, Mason Garrity, Reid Imgbriglio and Kailyb Santiago for stellar teamwork and excellent effort during the last and final game of the 2014/2015 season. The Jr. Bombers were not quite awake enough to pull off a win in their early morning meeting with Pioneer Valley. Francis Powers started the scoring efforts by the Jr. Bombers and would follow-up with three additional goals throughout the game. Other goals for Westfield were by Evan Michelucci for two, and one each for Jacob Jarrell, Sean McMahon and Joey Roselli. In the end, the Jr. Bombers would fall to a three goal deficit and take a loss.

Sawyer King was stellar in goal for the Jr. Bombers with 40 saves in a game dominated by Westfield despite the efforts of WTM. The Evan’s of Westfield (Michelucci and Grant) started the scoring for the Jr. Bombers with Darrin Schnopp following with a third shortly thereafter. WTM got their first goal 21 minutes into the game, but not for lack of trying, followed by Westfield scoring efforts by Katie Collins, two more for Schnopp, a hat-trick by Jacob Jarrell, goal number two for Michelucci and two by Sean McMahon. WTM would squeak three goals by Westfield’s King in the late stages of the game, but their effort was not enough against the Jr. Bombers.

In only their second loss of the season, the Jr. Bombers gave Amherst a run for the money. The game was scoreless for the first 16 minutes of play when Amherst scored two back to back goals. Westfield’s Jacob Jarrell quickly fired back for a Jr. Bomber goal, but Amherst held strong with an additional two goals. Gwenn Hosmer fired one by the Amherst net minder followed by Jarrell with his second of the game, Hosmer for number two and the final goal for Westfield from Francis Powers. Brayden Czarnecki was on his game saving 42 shots on goal.

It was another back and forth battle between Westfield and Holy Name, with the Jr. Bombers holding their own in the end as the Stars tried to make a late game come back. Scoring for Westfield was Joey Roselli, Evan Michelucci and Evan Grant both netting two each, Francis Powers for a hat-trick, Sean McMahon for two goals, and Katie Collins and Sawyer King for one each.

The Jr. Bombers were wide awake for their final game of the season against WTM. Evan Michelucci was less than challenged with only 21 shots against him goal, thanks to a good defensive effort. Scoring for the Jr. Bombers were Sean McMahon and Jacob Jarrell with two goals each, Evan Grant, Katie Collins and Brayden Czarnecki all with one each and Francis Powers with a double hat-trick to help get Westfield the win and fine ending to a great season!
