WESTFIELD – Staff and students were notified Feb. 10 that Westfield High School would switch to remote learning days on Thursday and Friday due to a positive COVID case.
Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski said they were notified late in the day Wednesday that a member of the WHS community tested positive for COVID-19, requiring that the school close to conduct deep cleaning and contact tracing.
WHS Principal Charles Jendrysik sent an email and robocall to the school community notifying them of the switch to remote..
“The school is closed today and tomorrow and will not open for students until after the winter break next week. There were numerous close contacts which is why we decided to go remote,” said Superintendent Stefan Czaporowski said on Thursday.
Athletics were also canceled or postponed Thursday and Friday as a result of the switch to remote, according to Czaporowski.
