WESTFIELD – Wilbur A. Greene, 88, died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 in a local nursing home. He grew up in Westfield and attended local schools. He has lived in Westfield and Agawam.He was a U.S. Marine Veteran of WWII. Wilbur worked for M&M Transportation in Chicopee and Finest Supermarkets for 45 years and retired in 1990. He was a member of the Marine Corps League in Westfield and Teamsters Local #404. Wilbur enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his pets.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mona A. (Cross) Greene in 2001. He leaves his children, Donna Gourinski and her husband Paul of West Springfield, Ruth Greene of Westfield, Dorothy Warshaw and her husband Martin of Manchester, NH, Allen Greene and his wife Barbara of Springfield and David Greene of St. Petersburg, FL. Wilbur also leaves his grandchildren Jacob, Adam, Benjamin, David, Marc, Donna, Paul, Donald, Jennifer and Lee, his great-grandchildren Caitlyn, Samantha, Sarah, Ryan, Riaya, Kenta, Emma, Isabella, Stephen and Anthony; his sisters, Cora Flouton of Westfield and Emma Hall of Haydenville. He was predeceased by his daughter, Carol Eckler and his grandson, Matthew.
The funeral for Wilbur will be held on Saturday, March 9th at 12:30 p.m. from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and Saturday prior to the service from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
