Southwick – William G. “Bill” Costa, Jr. 78, of Southwick, MA loving husband of 54 years to the late Beverly (Ploof) Costa entered into Eternal Rest in the comfort of his home surrounded by family on Sunday, May 28, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born in Cambridge, MA and proudly served in the United States Army. He retired in 1997 after 39 years as a Rural Mail Carrier with the USPS. Bill was a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Church where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. Family was the center of Bill’s life. He is survived by three children, Anne Costa, Douglas W. Costa and his wife, Geralynn and William Costa, III all of Southwick; three grandchildren, Bruce W. Jackson, Douglas W. Costa, Jr. and Erin, and Alexander R. Costa; a great-grandson, Declan Costa and many nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Costa-Jackson and four brothers, Richard, John, Robert and Kenneth Costa.
Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, June 2, 2017, from 3:30 pm to 7:30 pm at the Southwick Forastiere Funeral Home, 624 College Highway, Southwick. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at10:30 am at Our Lady of the Lake Church, 224 Sheep Pasture Rd, Southwick.
