Granville, MA – Bill Toomey, born July 21, 1951, passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day, 2016. He was the recently retired CEO of Toomey Associates, Inc. of Westfield and a founding member, longtime volunteer and officer of the Friends of Grandmothers’ Garden. He served on the Finance Committee for the Town of Granville. He was kind and generous to all who knew him, whether as husband, son, brother, uncle or friend. Bill leaves his loving wife of 42 years, Bernadette Salvador Toomey. He leaves his sister-in-law, Antonia Paulson and her husband, Robert Sr., of Mundelein, Illinois and his brother-in-law, Bernardo Salvador and his wife, Julie, of San Jose, California. Bill leaves his mother, Eleanor H. Toomey, of Agawam. His father, Patrick C. Toomey, predeceased him in 1998. In Westfield, Massachusetts, he leaves his sisters: Maureen Kane and her husband Richard, Jane Toomey, and Carmel Steger and her husband Christopher. In Concord, Massachusetts, he leaves his brother, Patrick Christopher Toomey and his wife Sandra; in Becket, Massachusetts, his brother Neil and his wife Deborah; and in Chester, Massachusetts, his brother Jerome Toomey. Bill’s sister-in-law, Sherrie, predeceased him in 2009. Bill leaves many devoted and loving nieces and nephews with whom he shared work, joy and celebration. He leaves, as well, many cousins in both America and Ireland with whom he enjoyed “happy hours” and memorable days. Bill lived in Granville and worked in Westfield for 40 years. He leaves countless cherished friends, loyal co-workers and business associates. Calling hours will be held at Firtion Adams Funeral Home, 76 Broad St., Westfield, Massachusetts on Friday, December 30 from 1pm-3:30pm. A memorial service will follow.
