WESTFIELD – William McCabe, 78, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2023. He was born June 7, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois and is the son of the late Britton and Lucile (Molison) McCabe. He was raised in Springfield, Massachusetts, graduated from Classical High School, went on to further his education, and receive his degree from Springfield College where his father was once a professor. William worked for over 30 years for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for the Division of Transitional Assistance and the Division of Medical Assistance. He was an avid reader and a lover of New England sports, specifically the Bruins, as he spent much time growing up playing hockey himself. He enjoyed trips to Cape Cod with his wife and children, working out, and taking his beloved dog, Dakota for car rides.
He leaves his wife of 40 years, Susan (Quintin) McCabe, his daughter Brittany McCabe and her partner Jay Bushey of Westfield, Amanda DeLugan and her husband Michael DeLugan of West Suffield, Connecticut. He also leaves his grandsons, Aiden DeLugan (12), Ian DeLugan (9), and Easton Bushey (6).
