Winifred L. Peregrin

WESTFIELD – Winifred L. (LaChappelle) Peregrin, 95 (1930-2026), passed away on Friday, April 17, 2026 at Vantage of Westfield. She was born in Worcester to the late Alfred and Leah (Goyette) LaChappelle. Winifred was an active communicant of St. Peter & St Casimir Roman Catholic Church for over 70 years, she enjoyed live theater, concerts and also enjoyed traveling especially to Florida, she loved the water and being on the ocean, and went parasailing in the Bahamas at the age 63 and a second time in the Gulf Shores of Alabama at he age of 82! Mostly, Winifred cherished her time spent with her family and grandchildren.

Besides her parents, Winifred was predeceased by her beloved husband Paul A. Peregrin in 1989, a brother Wallace LaChappelle, and two sisters, Gloria LaValley and Claudette Fuller, She is survived by her four loving children, Paula Miller of Manchester, CT, Susan Peregrin-Cichowski and her husband Richard of Weston, FL, Jerry Peregrin and his wife Joyce of Westfield and Maryanne (Call) Wright and her husband Raymond of Westfield, brother Phillip LaChappelle and his wife Joan of Westfield, sister Jean Gendreau of Feeding Hills, sister-in-law Theresa Curran of Westfield, and her cherished eleven grandchildren: Brian Peregrin of Manchester, CT, Mellissa Ommberborn of Middletown, NJ, Adam Call of Westfield, Amanda App of Horsham, PA, Rebecca Oleksak of Westfield, Justina Peregrin of Ipswich, MA, Patrick Call of Westfield, Stephen Peregrin of Holyoke, Laura Sillaber of Manchester, Ct, Caroline Karadimas of Holyoke and Benjamin Call of Wyben, MA. and eighteen great grandchildren.

Folks might remember Winifred as a cheerful waitress at the infamous Soo’s Chinese Restaurant in Westfield where she served for 17 years. Then she went on to drive mini school bus for special needs children in Westfield. Winnie, as she was affectionately known as, will be missed by her entire family that she created throughout her long lifetime.

The family would like to take this opportunity to recognize the care Winnie received from the staff at Vantage of Westfield who expressed their love for her gentle and sometimes feisty nature. Calling hours will be on Wednesday April 22nd from 4-7PM at Firtion-Adams Funeral Service located at 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A funeral service will take place on Thursday April 23 at 9AM at the funeral home followed by Mass at St Peter & St Casimir Church at 34 State St Westfield, MA. with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Southampton Rd.
