WESTFIELD- Westfield State University will host its annual Spring Job and Internship Fair March 4 from 1 to 3:30 p.m. in the Scanlon Banquet Hall on its Western Avenue campus.
The fair will allow students to interact with representatives from dozens of companies and organizations representing a range of career fields.
“It is open to all majors so we have a little bit of everything,” said Junior Delgado, director of the University’s Career Center, “We have Criminal Justice, business, environmental science, computer science, health care, and school districts, among others.”
Delgado said that the university had just run out of spaces for businesses to participate in the fair. He said they expect 85 businesses and organizations to participate. Some of those include American Outdoor Brands Co., Cintas Corporation, CVS Health, Enterprise Holdings, and MGM Springfield.
Delgado said that many of the students who attend come away with job interviews, part-time job opportunities and internships. He said they typically have about 300 students take advantage of the opportunity the fair provides.
He said it is not just open to University students; area high school students and students from other local colleges and universities are welcome to attend as well. Delgado said the event is free and completely open to the public.
“This fair will have a variety of opportunities for participants in a range of fields,” said Delgado, “Our staff hopes students take advantage to meet face to face with recruiters and create some potentially helpful connections.”
