WESTFIELD – Captain Angelica Chepurin recorded her second hat trick with three goals in the Westfield Technical Academy girls soccer team’s 4-0 home win over Sci-Tech Wednesday. She also set up the game’s only other score, a goal from Jess Bush.
Bush, Elizabeth Babinova, and Kiki Serrano each had an assist.

Westfield Tech keepers Ari Levere and Caitlen Carter combined for one save and a shutout.

“It was nice to see my girls put 16 shots on target with four finding the net,” Westfield Tech coach Lyle Washington said. “My defense and midfield did a great job, allowing one shot on our keepers.”

Westfield Tech returns to action Friday at home against Commerce. The Tigers boys’ team travels to Springfield’s Forest Park to take on Putnam Thursday.

The Westfield Tech boys soccer team is coming off a 4-0 win of their own, over Pathfinder. The Tigers enter Thursday’s contest having won five games in seven days.

“I’m so proud of the group as a whole,” Westfield Tech coach Kyle Dulude said. “I truly hope it continues for a few more weeks.”

Westfield Tech’s latest win featured a strong senior start and a great freshman finish.

Senior Philip Lisyanyy made an amazing shot that went upper 90 from about 25 yards out. Then, senior Ed Borodin put a nice cross in the box where Brad Marion blasted it through a small crowd into the back of the net. Seniors Frank Florek and Josh hooked up to tally the next goal. Underclassman Kaiden Feist sent a great long ball to freshman Adam Strycharz, who finished and converted once again.

“We really haven’t started to think about the refuse-to-lose mentality,” coach Dulude said. “Instead, we hare leaving off optimism, positivity, and discipline and feel like if we are going to continue this great run, we have to do it together as a family.”

“These students really enjoy life and we have been reminded to put meaning behind what we do.”
