WESTFIELD – The YMCA of Greater Westfield has scheduled a community open house on Jan. 20, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. During that day, members of the public are welcome to drop in at the YMCA facility at 67 Court St. and participate in a variety of open classes throughout the day.
“As an organization focused on our community, we want to give the community an alternative and affordable experience for individuals and families to have on a day that public schools are closed and many other businesses are closed as well. One of the pillars of our organization is healthy living, we believe that providing these experiences can help those in our community start a healthy and fresh start in the new year or continue the healthy habits they have already,” said Andrea Allard, the YMCA’s chief executive officer.
List of events for the community open house include:
Drop the kids off in Child Watch and get a workout in the facility from 9 a.m. to 12 noon, and from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Join in on Family Swim time from 8 a.m. to 9 a.m., and 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Participate in one of the Group Exercise Classes:
– Group cycling (check ahead of class for a spot) from 6 to 6:55 a.m.
– Yoga Stretch Class, 7:45 to 8:30 a.m.
– Pool Fitness, 9 to 9:45 a.m.
– Group cycling (check ahead of class for a spot), 9:15 to 10 a.m.
– Too fit to quit, 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
– Yoga, 12 noon to 1 p.m.
– Cardio Shape up, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.
– Yoga, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
– Zumba, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

For members of the community who would like to try out the YMCA but are not available on Jan. 20, free day passes are available by contacting the front desk at 413-568-8631.
The YMCA of Greater Westfield is normally open seven days a week, from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. Mondays through Fridays; from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays.
