WESTFIELD PEE WEE BOMBERS vs. SPRINGFIELD CYO
What an epic match up. The Pee Wee Varsity Players fought a tough battle against a fierce opponent and should hold their heads up high despite a loss of 22-32. Westfield started an assault against CYO defense with a 50 yard Touchdown rush from Towers to Strange. Followed by a 2 point conversion rush by Melchionne. The Defense locked down the inside game of the Springfield offense and made quick adjustments to secure the outside. Exceptional tackling by Delgado, Barber, Adam and the rest of the Defensive players. In the second quarter Towers took the air and connected with Melchionne in the flats where a 50 yard match up of speed resulted in a touchdown for the Bombers, with a quick 2 point conversion added by Strange. The battle between line ups pushed back and forth with a couple of points scored by CYO. The Bombers never gave up fighting for every inch on every down. Time ticking away we started a rush offense and drove the ball all the way into the end zone with a series of rushes and passes summing it up with a rush by Strange for 6 points.
As a Coach I am proud of the mature nature that our Pee Wee players handled this tough defeat. My hat is off to you guys your sportsmanship is second to none. Presently in fifth place we will need to refocus our efforts on Holyoke and South Hadley to fight our way into the playoffs. No matter what the results of the next couple of games I am proud of each and every player. Job well done guys.
