1:45 a.m.: disturbance, Springfield Road, a caller from a Springfield Road department store reports about 30 young people are marching around inside the store “protesting, yelling and screaming”, the responding officer reports that the protesters were leaving as she arrived and the store manager said that the protesters had been chanting profanities and making statements apparently in protest of a grand jury decision in Fergusen, Ohio, the manager said that the protesters caused no damage while they were in the store;
9:48 a.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and it was towed;
12:12 a.m.: found property, Main Street, a resident came to the station to surrender cash she reported finding on Main Street, the money was stored for safekeeping;
12:20 p.m.: suspicious person, Main Street, a caller from a Main Street store reports a person believed to have stolen from the store the day before has returned, see story in the Friday edition of The Westfield News;
1:44 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Elm Street, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the vehicle’s registration was found to be expired and non-renewable, the SUV was towed;
4:51 p.m.: larceny, Southampton Road, a caller reports his BMX bike was stolen, the responding officer reports the caller said that he left his unlocked bicycle outside a convenience store while went inside and found it gone when he returned;
8:08 p.m.: animal complaint, South Maple Street, a caller reports he has taken custody of a stray dog, the responding animal control officer reports the intact shih tzu dog was transported to the municipal animal shelter.
