HS WRAP-UP: Bombers soar

BRATTLEBORO, VT – The Westfield High School boys’ lacrosse team traveled out of state, raced out to a 12-1 lead in the first half against Brattleboro, Vermont, and never looked back in the rearview mirror en route to a resounding 18-4 win Thursday.
Matt Chlastawa (4 goals, 3 assists), Zach Gentle (3 goals, 4 assists), Mason Balch (2 goals, 5 assists), Landon Reyes (3 goals, 2 assists), and Matt Bonsall (3 goals) led the offensive attack.
Anthony Sullivan, Max Maggipinto, and Zach Cree also scored one goal apiece for the Bombers. Ward and Visconti earned assists.
Matt Reynolds and Ryan Reed combined for 11 Westfield saves.
Westfield’s Kohl Lunargini helped kick-start the offense by dominating the face-offs. Mitch Weiss led a strong defensive unit.

Minnechaug dominated the draw and time of possession.
Olivia Chaoush recorded a hat trick for Westfield, and Bombers’ Lexi Wood collected two scores.

BASEBALL
Mochak Ks 7 in WHS rout
Westfield 14, Agawam 4

Westfield pitcher Dalen Mochak pitched six strong innings, striking out seven batters and walking one; and the Bombers exploded for seven runs in the sixth inning to defeat Agawam at Bullens Field.
Sean Murphy (3-for-5), Anthony Riga (2-for-4), Matt Hastings (2-for-4), Sean Moorhouse (2-for-3), and Austin St. Pierre (2-for-5).

Jones homers in Gators’ loss
Sabis 9, Gateway 8

Shayn Audet (3-for-3, 3 runs scored) and Nick Thibodeau (3-for-4, run, RBI) each belted homers to lead Sabis. Gateway’s Joe Jones (3-for-4, 2 runs, 2 RBIs) also homered in the game.

Southwick escaped Monson with a key victory.

Clemente Ks 7 as WHS rolls
Westfield 12, South Hadley 3

Casey Almeida (3-for-4, 2 runs), Grace Barnes (3-for-5, 2 runs, RBI), Lindsey Kiltonic (2-for-4, RBI), and Morgan Zabielski (2-for-4, 3 runs) had multi-hit efforts to lead the Westfield offensive attack.
Westfield pitcher Nicole Clemente pitched all seven innings. Clemente recorded seven Ks.

GIRLS’ TRACK & FIELD
Consolini leads Rams
Southwick 69, Agawam 67

Ashley Consolini won three events to lead Southwick to a narrow victory Thursday.
Consolini took first in the long jump (15-1), 100 hurdles (17.2), and 400 hurdles (1:12).

JV BASEBALL
Southwick 9, Monson 3

Josh Sylvia went six innings, striking out eight batters, walking three, and allowing just one run on the mound for Southwick. Sam Mizanoglu picked up a save with two strikeouts in the seventh.
Josh led the Southwick offense, going 3-for-5 with a double, triple, and three RBIs.
