WESTFIELD – The fifth annual Western Massachusetts Boys’ High School Volleyball Spalding All-Star Game will take place Friday night inside the Westfield High School gymnasium, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
A second-team All-Stars match will kick off the festivities, followed by the first-team All-Stars match at 7:30. Both matches will use a three-set format.
“There is such a wealth of volleyball talent right here in Western Massachusetts, the sports birthplace.” said International Volleyball Hall of Fam Executive Director George Mulry. “It’s important we take the time to recognize and celebrate these amazing student-athletes that are right here in our local community.”
The two-time defending Division 1 champion Westfield Bombers led all honors with four players named to the first team All-Stars, followed by by Agawam and Central with three apiece.
Westfield seniors Igor Belokopytov and Tyler Stanton, and juniors Eddie Loboda and Scott Walsh were first team All-Star selections. Junior Bombers Noah Kappel and Ryan Murray were selected to the second team, as well as Southwick senior Ryan Todesco.
Players were selected by a select committee of local coaches, officials, and members of the media.
Admission to the All-Star Game also includes a free future admission pass to the International Volleyball Hall of Fame Museum. For the third straight year, the Western Massachusetts Player of the Year will be announced at the conclusion of the evening.
