Westfield – Winifred Jean (Williams) Calegari died on February 9, 2017 after a brief illness.  She was born on November 17, 1927 in Westfield and spent her early years in Chester, MA.  She married Joseph “Nookie” Calegari in 1947 and was a homemaker.  She is predeceased by Joe, her husband of 58 years, her son, Michael Calegari and her brother, Neil Williams.  She is survived by her son, Daniel, of Manchester, N.H., grandsons Ben Calegari of San Francisco and Joseph Calegari of New Hampshire, former daughter-in-law Elizabeth Birnie and sister Genevive Gordon of Nantucket.

Winnie was a life time resident of Westfield.  She was a parishioner of the First Congregational Church and owed an enormous amount of gratitude to a fellow member of the church, Debbie Samwell.  Debbie’s endless care and love allowed Winne to have much peace in her final years.  Additionally, I would like to express my true gratitude to the wonderful staff at the Governor’s Center for their exceptional care of my mother over the last seven years of her life.

Calling hours will be held at the Robert Cusack Funeral Home, 94 Main Street, Westfield on Monday, February 27 from 10:30 AM to 12 Noon, with a short service beginning at noon.  Burialwill follow at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Joe.

Contributions in Winnie’s memory can be made to the First Congregational Church, 18 Broad Street, Westfield, MA 01085.
