Westfield – Frances M. (Pieczarka) Walas, 100, affectionately known to her family as “Franny,” passed away on December 16, 2018. Born in Windsor Locks, CT. on January 15, 1918 and lived most of her life in Westfield. Frances was predeceased by her husband, the love of her life, Stanley (Bucky) T. Walas on December 27, 2001.
She worked alongside her husband Stanley & his brothers who owned and operated the Airline Drive-In in Chicopee, MA. Later on she also worked at Whites Quaint Shop until she devoted her life to take care of her brother Edward. Franny was a caring, loving, generous and thoughtful person who always thought of others, supporting her family, church, community and friends. She loved to travel to Florida with Bucky, Delia, Eddie and her friend Annie. She was a member of the Women of the Moose for over 50 years and became a life-time member. Franny will be missed by her family and friends and will be remembered for her kind soul.
She was also predeceased by her sisters Delia Marinaccio, Geneive Tenerowicz, Stacia Wynglarz, Josephine Whitten, Antonia Barnes and her brothers Raymond and Edward Pieczarka. Franny left many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly.
Her family is thankful for the love and personal care that she received from the Governors Center The funeral for Franny will be held on Friday December 21st at 9 am from the Firtion-Adams Funeral Service, 76 Broad Street, Westfield. A liturgy of Christian Burial will follow in Holy Trinity Church at 10 am. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 4-6 pm.
