WESTFIELD -Yesterday, Troop 821 Boy Scouts Jonathan Huntley, Brian Mitchell and Zachary Zak celebrated earning the rank of Eagle Scout at their Eagle Court of Honor at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish Center in Westfield. Present at the ceremony were many of Jonathan, Brian and Zachary’s scout mates, family and friends. The ceremony showcased the hard work, dedication and community service these three young men have accomplished on their path to the highest rank in Boy Scouts. Fewer than 4% of Boy Scouts earn scouting’s highest rank. Jonathan is in the 8th grade and attends North Middle School. His community service project was to erect a flag pole and conduct a flag retirement ceremony at the First Congregational Church in Southampton. Brian is a junior at Westfield High School and his project was to repair and log GPS coordinates of historic headstones at The Old Burial Ground in Westfield. Zachary is a junior at Westfield Vocational Technical High School and his service project involved installing informational signs at Westfield’s Granville and Montgomery reservoirs.
