3:02 a.m.: suspicious activity, Powder Mill Village, 126 Union St., a caller reports an altercation in a vehicle in which a gun was shown, the responding officer report the caller was reluctant to explain the situation but eventually said that he had been in Springfield when he was approached by a woman who initiated a conversation and invited him to “ride around”, the man said that while he was driving around with the woman and a man driving he was offered marijuana but declined, the man said that after about a half hour he asked the operator to turn around and take him home but the operator pulled into Powder Mill Village, there, the man told the officer, he was asked if he had any drugs or money and threatened with a handgun, the man was transported to the station to arrange for a ride home;
10:38 a.m.: fraud, Briarwood Place, a resident came to the station to complain that her former husband and his new wife are making fraudulent claims to the Social Security Administration and Mass Health, the responding officer reports the complainant said that although she has custody of their son her former husband has been applying for benefits on his behalf;
10:53 a.m.: accident, Little River Road at Ridgecrest Drive, a caller reports an accident, the responding officer reports as he approached he observed two women outside the vehicles who appeared to be arguing and he saw one woman shove the other repeatedly, one of the operators said that she had been entering Little River Road from Ridgecrest Drive but her vision was blocked by a snowbank, the woman said that she edged into the roadway and was struck by an approaching vehicle she had not been able to see, the assaultive young woman said she was frustrated because it was her third recent accident, she said she only shoved the older woman once and apologized, a criminal complaint for assault and battery was filed;
11:17 a.m.: city ordinance violation, Free Street, a caller complains that Main and Free street sidewalks have been inadequately cleared, the responding officer reports responsible parties agreed to attend to the issue immediately, similar action was taken on Main Street (3), School Street and White Street;
11:33 a.m.: assist citizen, Westfield Police Department, 15 Washington St., a resident came to the station to surrender for destruction 70 rounds of reloaded .45 caliber ammunition he believes to the defective, the property was accepted for destruction;
1:25 p.m.: parking violation, Morris Street, a DPW representative reports two vehicle are parked on the street in violation of the snow emergency parking ban, the responding officer reports one vehicle was found when he arrived and a citation was issued;
2:53 p.m.: officer wanted, Elizabeth Avenue, a resident came to the station to complain that his mother’s personal care attendant is abusing her, the responding officer reports that the complainant said that he observed that the PCA had not properly transported his mother who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease to a doctor’s appointment and said she complained once that the woman choked her, the case was referred to the Detective Bureau;
6:43 p.m.: motor vehicle violation, Springfield Road, a patrol officer reports a traffic stop, the operator’s license was found to be suspended, the car was towed to the police impound yard.
