12:52 a.m.: assist other agency, Westwood Drive, a probation officer faxed a warrant to the department and asked that an officer attempt to locate a probationer who was in violation of the electronic monitoring clause of his release, the responding officer reports Harry Anischik, 44, of 124 Westwood Drive, was found at his home and arrested without incident;
12:54 a.m.: disturbance, Arnold Street, a caller reports a large fight inside an Arnold Street bar, the responding officer reports the found that a person had apparently unintentionally bumped the pool cue of a person playing pool in the bar and that person took offense, the man reportedly broke a beer bottle and struck two persons, one was subsequently transported to Noble Hospital where he was treated and released, the suspect was escorted from the bar and left the area, the officer reports his investigation is incomplete;
1:11 a.m.: animal complaint, Kasper Drive, a caller reports a cat meowing on the sidewalk is disturbing her peace but she is unable to take custody of the cat as it hissed at her when she approached it, the responding officer reports he transported the cat to the station, later in the morning an animal control officer transported it to the Westfield Homeless Cat Project;
9:58 a.m.: well-being check, Joseph Avenue, a caller from a local bank reports a customer called to say he has no heat, the caller said that the man is forgetful and calls the bank because he can remember the phone number and is comfortable with the staff, the responding officer reports the man’s oil tank was empty and helped him arrange to have it filled;
10:00 a.m.: animal complaint, Westfield Animal Shelter, 178 Apremont Way, a resident came to the shelter to surrender a tea cup Chihuahua dog she kept overnight after finding it in a Main Street parking lot;
12:38 p.m.: animal complaint, Southwood Acres, 342 Southwick Road, an animal control officer reports she set a trap for a stray dog that has been in the area for several days, the ACO reports that the dog was not trapped when she returned later in the day and she deactivated the trap so as not to ensnare the dog overnight;
7:59 p.m.: assist motorist, Whitney Playground, Shepard Street, a caller reports her vehicle is stuck in the snow at the playground and the tow she called four hours earlier is not able to help her because of the deep snow, the responding officer reports he spoke with the towing company and learned that the tow truck is unable to negotiate the snow but they have a plow truck which may be able to help the motorist although it would entail an additional fee which is not covered by her motor club, the caller was advised she can call the towing company again if she wants to avail herself of their extraordinary services.
